Our Grand Challenge Project tackles Southwark's flooding risk by introducing a modular Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDs) designed for Peckham's urban environment. Addressing the lack of green spaces, our solution integrates rainwater management with community engagement.
The recycled-plastic structure features a central water planter, circular seating with recycled ceramic surfaces, and an optional dog-drinking pallet with filtration layers. The participatory design allows local schools, artists, and residents to personalize the ceramic surfaces, fostering shared ownership and sustainable behaviors.
Beyond flood mitigation, the SUD creates vibrant communal spaces, promoting resilience, well-being, and a greener future for Peckham.
